OUR TEAM
With special thanks to Professor Stacy Elliott for helping us put this whole project together!
Oliver Banks
Volunteer Coordinator
As the volunteer Coordinator, Oliver Banks is the main person all the volunteers will interact with - responding to emails and leading the volunteer orientation meetings. He'll walk through the full routes with the volunteers to ensure complete assurance of the paths and be available for any questions.
Polly Powers
Media Outreach Conductor
As Media Outreach Conductor, (hi it's me) Polly Powers is helping create and edit the website to offer the most insight into our research project - where our designated routes are, who the team is and who to contact for what information, as well as additional links to articles about bird mortality rates and what are the leading causes of this. As well, Polly will help with any issues regarding volunteer sign-ups and what dates/times work best.
JP Westin
Data Coordinator
JP is our main guy to help with material preparation for the volunteers, making sure data is properly documented, and ultimately, leading the combination of all data and analyzing it for our research results. He's also in charge of our budget for this project and will be a major contributor to analyzing our research data.
Mike Barlow
Routes Coordinator
As Route Coordinator, Mike strategically chose which buildings in Nashville will be beneficial to survey for this study, designing efficient routes that give easy access to said buildings and are volunteer-friendly, printing maps of the routes for volunteers, and guiding volunteer groups through the routes to teach them where to go and how they work. This position helps to fulfill our ability to navigate through areas in the city where we hypothesize deceased bird sightings may be common.
